Third Sortie
Last friday was my third sortie, at aprox 1220 aussie time, which works to about 920 local. Its amazing how much things can change over just 4 days. Last friday, I was in a major dilema, because I would have failed the selection if I was unable to find the airport. Failed meaning get failing the selection and get sent home.
Imagine, how silly would it be if I failed just because I couldnt find the airport?? I would never forgive myself. Anyway. I apparently had better improvement as said by my instructor for that flight. Compared to the other 2 sorites earlier, I didnt get much scolding, which made me really happy, and the instructor didnt use any vulgarities. Like gosh, im OVERJOYED. Should I say that? Main thing is that he said that there is an improvement in my performance.
I also learnt several things during this selection. You do not need to be passionate inorder to pass. And, no matter how passionate you might be, you can still fail. You might be the one who studied the hardest, or be the most intelligent of all, and you could still fail the selection. This isnt training, its a selection. And passing it depends on many variables.
Just like when people ask me: “Mark, when would you be back in Singapore?” I tell them “it depends”. But the longer I stay here, the better.
